sequential design animations

This is my Kinetic Typography project from my Sequential Design class last semester. We chose a clip from a song or movie and used Adobe Flash to animate the words.

Just kidding! Go to the bottom of my Sequential Design Portfolio page to watch my second animation, an instructional video on using an old-fashioned cookie press.

Working in Flash is quite frustrating (as you can tell from the audio being off and its inability to export my second animation), but I learned a lot about thinking in motion nonetheless.

It is such a unique way of thinking, planning, and designing, and I can't wait to explore this medium more!

Beach / waterside park / marina with Reece and Michelle

Playing around on my tablet, from winter break. I did a self-portrait first, then drew a couple friends in the same kind of high contrast. It's hard!

Image & Color

Image & Color has got to be one of my favorite classes. My professor, Stephen Sidelinger, was a graphic designer before there were computers, giving him a very unique, hands-on approach. We do a lot of small exercises and explore different mediums and forms of image-making.

Drawing on the right side of the brain: fast studies, Ebony pencil & turpentine

Drawing on the right side of the brain: graphic portrait of Yuan, pen/brush & ink.

type studies.

So cool! I used a stick for the last one.

My fav oil pastel color palette / texture study...wanna do more.

Rayray! Practicing with pastels.

Laura
a peacock for Alexis,
and a giraffe for Sam.

'Tis all for now. Oil pastels = my new squeeze. I'm still obsessed with that giraffe.

GIC icons

Ringling is incredible. And a lot of work. And gorgeous. Nuff said.

For my Intro to Graphic & Interactive Communication (GIC) class, we were instructed to create objects out of simple shapes, and then combine them with the universal "man" and "woman" symbols to give them a purpose or new meaning. The icons were to be as clean, balanced and minimalistic as possible, while still communicating an idea.

For example, a cow alone is just a cow.

With a person on top, it becomes a form of transportation.

Carmen Miranda • shame/basket case • gay rights • detective/private eye • family boat • Panamanian Guaymi

I definitely like some more than others, but overall I loved this project.
